9/6/20 Disaster Movies

1.
2.World War Z
3.Impossible
4.
5.Godzilla
6.

-2020 Washington D.C
-Sad- Fire, Rain, Dark, Cloudy
Casual clothes but progressively through the film they get more tattered and bloody.
-A variety of camera angles
Medium/Long shots to show the disaster
  Steadycam for the most part
Handheld could be an interesting shot maybe to track the characters through the riots.

-The mistreatment of black people throughout the world. The lack of care that the government has in response (Trump). The world needs change. Black Lives Matter.

1.Death within the main characters potentially typical of horror movies?
2.Buildings progressively destroyed, set on fire
3.Rioting (potentially getting more violent due to dire police actions as a result, progressively through the film)
4. Signs, spray cans, Fire,Banners etc.
5.Gloomy, Dark, (fire)
6.Progressively gets sadder throughout, left on a cliffhanger to make the audience think of what the end could be and how the world could or has changed.

Equilibrium - The whole family is safe and whole, they live their life as normal.

Disruption- George Floyd murder on video. Outrage throughout the country.

Recognition of disruption- Father, Isaac, has been through enough racism in his life and is fed up, he goes out to riot and Harvey goes with him, Jaxon must stay home because he is too young.

Attempt to solve- The whole country (and the world) join them in rioting for their equality. Isaac is murdered as a result of the police increasingly getting violent to combat peaceful protests. Harvey tries to run to where his father is being trampled and gets pulled away by two other characters Aliyah and Mitchell, when tear gas is thrown at them. Grieving and anger. Harvey must tell Jaxon what has happened. Harvey wants Jaxon to witness what the world has become, and takes him to a protest, though he has to stay with him at all times to ensure his safety. They meet up with Aliyah and Mitchell. Police arrive and cause havoc. Harvey loses sight of Jaxon, when we find him his is gasping for air and we have to watch as he chokes (asthmatic, tear gas). Harvey throws what is left of the gas back at the police, picks up Jaxon and starts running home, Jaxon still choking. While he is running , Jaxon stops choking, Harvey falls to his knees with Jaxon in his arms and an emotion goodbye.
Throughout the film we see real news stories and speeches from the government being played to highlight the lack of care from the goverment. They spend the rest of the film protesting.

New equilibrium- There is no "good" end to the film. The film has no concrete finish, to make the audience think to themselves about the world and what needs to change.

The hero- Protesters
The villain- the justice system, the government , the brutal police.
The donor-His father
The helper-Aliyah and Mitchell
The princess-Freedom
The dispatcher- The father?
The princess' father- Getting through to the government, making change.
The false hero-Celebrities with the power to make a difference, but doing the bare minimum

Name- Justice

You go in thinking they will get justice in the end, but you leave with an understanding of what justice needs to happen.
