Postmodernism

Postmodernism-  a late 20th-century style and concept in the arts, architecture, and criticism, which represents a departure from modernism and is characterised by the self-conscious use of earlier styles and conventions, a mixing of different artistic styles and media, and a general distrust of theories. Postmodernism-  Challenges genre conventions: might be a mixture of many genres; challenges typical character roles etc. Pastiche: imitates other texts, humorous take on society/culture. Hyper-reality: makes the audience aware that they are watching a movie. We are now living in a post-post modernist world where we are creating our own matrix and spend more time online than we do in life.

Lego movie game

The game promotes the film because it builds a distaste to the bad character before you've even seen the film, and builds a relationship between the player and Emmet. It also promotes the game because it is Lego, and you get to play as the characters.
