Coursework
I think the brief I want to do is the fashion magazine with the double page spread.
A few ideas I've come up with at the moment:
IDEA 1-
Quarantine style- How to wear a mask with style. Show different variations of style choices and match that with a mask. Making masks less of a necessity, and more of a style choice. Encouraging TA to follow lockdown laws, and also hopefully making wearing a mask less daunting.
And white.

Photoshoot planning
LO: To create content that meets the set brief by creating meaning for an audience of 14-18 year olds.
Planning area
1. Where you are shooting, location and specific detail of the shot location.
2.When can you shoot the images
3.Weather
4.Who is involved
5.What do you need- Equipment, clothing
6. Camera angle and shot
NEXT THURSDAY LUNCH!! PICK UP CAMERA
1. Cornfield, maybe field across the way from my house. I can use the date, lying in the grass, walking through the field etc. I'm going for a yellow-y bright field aesthetic.
2. The clothes are coming est. 22nd October so it will obviously have to be around then, which is during half term, so maybe ill have to borrow a camera for half term?
3.Sunny, bright weather
4.Emma Rowe, she'll be in all the pictures in different outfits
5.Booked the camera to pick up thursday for half term. Clothes arriving around the 22nd October.
IMAGE 1- Cover/Dps
Front cover
Layout- Im hoping for the masthead to be obstructed my the image, so ill duplicate and cut her out over the top?
Image 2
DPS
Camera shot/ angle: Mid shot, Eyelevel
The image is going to be on the double page spread as the main cover image, so it will be her lying down in the field, stretched across both pages. It wont be at an angle to where you can see he face fully, it will be her side profile.

Like this but closer up
Image 3
DPS
What i might end up doing depending on the time constraint is take all of these types of pictures twice in the different outfits and pair them that way, to ensure variation in the pictures.
Image 4
DPS
Lying in the field on her stomach.medium eyelevel shot.
Image 5
DPS
Long shot- eye-level/ lower angle.
Might use different fields

Statement of Intent
LO: To produce a concise and clear statement.
The brief asks us to produce a fashion magazine front cover and double-page spread catered to 14-18-year-olds. With this in mind, I will aim the concepts featured, to a strong demographic- about a topic that is relevant in the world right now- feminism. This theme of empowering femininity will not just be shown through fashion, but text and layout also. The magazine title: “EVE” illustrates the feminist message, through the audience’s prior contextual knowledge of Genesis, even if they don’t have religious beliefs. My intended target audience enjoys fashion and takes pride in looking good. They likely care for others and the environment they live in, valuing activism, empowerment, and inclusivity. As the target audience is 14-18, they are still in some form of education, and I feel as though they value their school life alongside their home/social life, and thrive in communities as well as on their own.
The mise-en-scene featured attracts the target audience and fits with specific codes and conventions, as stereotypically feminine fashion tropes tend to include flowy dresses and a warm, calming colour palette. While the fashion choices may be deemed stereotypical and cliché, the cover lines will contrast, using bold fonts and powerful messages (featured in the cover-lines and quotes used on the front cover). Through my research of existing fashion magazines, I have found that dominant women are often elevated; shot at a low, powerful angle - displaying sophistication and independence. To further present the power of the model, she will be obstructing the masthead, as a metaphor to present the obstruction and eradication of misogyny. Furthermore, the images featured will display a variation of powerful poses to emphasise the feminist message to the target audience. The biblical references mentioned previously are reiterated through the pose of the model- she is reaching up to the sky like that of Adam.

With the rise of the Insta-generation, the insatiable desire for a partner to post #couplegoals pics with is skyrocketing, leaving teenage girls across the world feeling as though a significant other is a necessity to be happy.
It took me discovering myself and recognising my self-worth, for me to realise that there's more to me than what I can provide for a man. I realised the importance of loving yourself before loving somebody else.
It took a bit of time, and a whole lot of strength to start to break down my barriers and dissolve the insecurities embedded into me since I created my first Instagram account. The perfect bodies, clear skin, blue water lifestyles that I had idolised- I had realised were all façades. The inner workings behind the 24" waists aren't always sunshine and rainbows like you'd expect.
For me, caring less about what others thought was a crucial first step into loving myself.
When you realise that no matter what you do, someone somewhere will be unsatisfied, it puts alot into perspective.
Stop forcing yourself to please others at your own expense.
Hold yourself to a higher standard, because you deserve it.
Don't let someone walk all over you- you are worth more than that.
Even little things, like complimenting yourself in the mirror, or holding your head a little higher when you walk- all come together to make you a more confident and radiant person.
Furthermore, I've found that posting on Instagram as a whole, facetuning your pictures, anxiously waiting and refreshing your page to count your likes, is very damaging to your self-image. Removing that need for validation through numbers benefits your mental health so much in the long run. I found that feeling of judgement go away, that obligation to upholding a standard disappear and my confidence level shoot through the roof.
This newfound self-worth was not easy to obtain, and I believe it is our obligation as a feminist society to enlighten and empower the women around us. Make sure to remind the women in your life of their importance and their worth.
