What do you know about the 60's
Contemporary framework- What was happening socially/politically at the time.

-An age of 'Hippy' culture
-Still impacted by WWII.1939-1945 (Rationing, poverty, geographical, people still frightened)
-New music
-Moon landing
-Dad was born 1969
-Colourful fashion-Patterns, skirts shorter,
-In the 1950's, the USA invented the term teenager. (before, 4-21 you were still a child) as a term of who to market to. Teenagers felt different and rebellious, they bought more products more catered to their stereotype.
-The anti-war protest ('Hippy'. smoked marijuana, wore colourful weird clothes,wore the ban the bomb peace symbol)
-60's was a time of youth rebellion.
-The UK had three subcultures. Hippy, mods, rockers

-Followed 'The Beatles' fashion, "McJagger"
-Contraceptive pills introduced.
-Free love, sex out of marriage, sex and relationship with the same gender(legal 1968, however still discrimination),Sex made legal at 16(Gay sex at 18, discrimination)
-Britain was multicultural, but racist. First interracial kiss, and first homosexual kiss shown in late 70's early 80's.
-LSD was designed in the Vietnam war as a drug to enhance soldiers performance by the US military.
-The Beatles were caught for using recreational drugs "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"

Non-Diegetic -Title music: theme tunes (connote genre/represent TV drama). -Score/incidental music: orchestral music used to connote tone/atmosphere. -Sound motifs: sounds associated with certain characters (often a villain like the shark in Jaws) that connote something good/bad is about to happen. -Sound effects: used to connote atmosphere. -Voice over: often used to give the viewer an isight into the thoughts of the character (creating a bond between the audience and character), set the scene or progress the narrative. Unions Postpone Strike Who was striking?            -The Amalgamated Engineering and `Foundry Workers' Union. -Labour government were more lenient in terms of striking.  A Conservative government would be more strict and put protesters in prison. -This cover shows that people were now beginning to stand up for their rights, where women's rights were at the forefront of priority. -The 60s were a time of women standing up for themselves, for equal rights, for equal pay etc. After -WW1 and WW2, women were more commonly seen in the workplace, equal to men (however they did not have equal pay, which still continues today) The 60s was a time for protesting for peace.
