News Sources

LO1: Critically evaluate the nature of news and news sources.
LO2: Create a blog post on 'News Sources'

Where do journalists find news stories?
-Online
-They can go to the place they are reporting on
-Hear through 'grapevine'
-Controversies online
-Make them up (using information but kind of like a prediction)
-Via reaching out to victims
-Reading newspapers
-Listening to peoples conversations
-Talk about current issues

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/cornwall
https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/

Recognising fake news
-You should think "Does this writer specialise in this area?" For example, you wouldn't ask a doctor to fix your car.
-Research everything (you don't want to get facts wrong and have that influence your story)
-Ask people
-Think "Is this actually true or do I just want it to be true?"
-Manage your expectations
-If it comes from an unknown source
-Look into the writer's eligibility

  1. Great work on the news day unit - you are developing a number of stories expertly and are successfully performing the role of director/producer.
